Nonprofit Charity For Debt Looks to Shake Up Student Loans

Charity For Debt is a startup nonprofit group (with a very nice logo) dedicated to helping students and alumni with debt pay off their student loans by providing paid volunteer opportunities by working with local charity organizations. The nonprofit was launched just this year but already has had many sign ups from potential volunteers. So if you’ve ever thought about giving back to your community, this is the perfect time. Not only will you be giving back but you will also be paying off your debt.
Charity For Debt depends on 3 groups to work: the student and alumni volunteers who want to pay off their debt, donors who are looking for innovative ways to donate to the local community and see the direct results of their dollars, and nonprofit or charity groups that need volunteers to keep their organizations running.
By uniting each of these groups, Charity For Debt hopes to improve communities by creating a monetary incentive for student and alumni volunteers at local charity organizations that are monitored and sponsored by donors. The volunteer will work for the charity for 4 to 6 hours per week for about 6 weeks. Then at the end of the service, Charity For Debt pays $1000 directly to the volunteer’s student loan lender. Currently 2 pilot programs are running in Washington DC and Dallas, TX.
Our goal is to obtain at least 300 interested volunteers, 20 partner non profits, and $10,000 in donations to pilot two projects in Washington DC and Dallas TX. Be the first to sign up as volunteer and help us get this project off the ground!
The idea for this organization is really refreshing. Find out more about how you can help or possibly be helped by Charity For Debt by going to their website at charityfordebt.org. Also visit their blog for all the latest news about this new organization.
