“How to Get Someone Else to Pay Your Student Loans” on TheStreet.com
I’d like to thank Laura Moran from TheStreet.com for writing about this site in her recent article How to Get Someone Else to Pay Your Student Loans. The article takes a look at the alternatives other people have thought of to pay off their student loans.
One of those chronicled in her article is Luke Livingston. Upon graduating college, Livingston thought of an interesting way to pay off his student loans. He started a website called sponsormyloans.com, where he offers to provide advertising and ad space on his website to anyone willing to pay $200 each month. He is hopeful that more businesses will advertise, thus sponsoring his student loan payment for the month.
The article on TheStreet.com also throws out some statistics on student loans.
Just less than half (45%) of undergraduates enrolled in a public four-year institution took out student loans, according to the National Center for Education statistics tracking the 2003-2004 school year, while over half of undergraduates attending all private four-year institutions took out student loans: 56% at not-for-profit schools and 73% at for-profit-schools.
With the number of students who have debt and the amount of that debt rising, more and more students will find new, alternative ways to pay off their debts. Hopefully each will find their way to a debt-free life.
